Bartholomew Woodlock was born in Dublin, Ireland, and was baptized on April 4, 1819. He was an Irish Catholic priest, philosopher, and educator who founded the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Ireland and later became the second rector of the Catholic University of Ireland, succeeding Cardinal John Henry Newman. Woodlock also served as professor of theology at All Hallows College, and in 1879 he was appointed Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise by Pope Leo XIII. He died on December 13, 1902, in Dublin, Ireland.
